Ren smirked, his voice using power hungry and coldness,"The crown."he said, simply. That's all he ever wanted. Well that and Lauren. He still couldn't explain it but he felt protective of her.

"Mmmmm," Costin sighed. "A pity. You can't lie to me, you know. She's got your scent all over her. A mild deterrent, but she's worth it." He smiled at Lauren, curling his lip to reveal fangs.

Ren's body went rigid, it took all it had him to keep his beast at bay,"Lauren?"he said, his voice hoarse. "Go ahead, Costin. Have your wicked way with her. She's mean nothing to me. She is just another conquest. So have fun mighty king."he snarled and than his voice lightened toward the end. It dripped in sarcasm. He shrugged his tensed shoulders."Kill her. See if I care. Now excuse me, but I have ...other.. Matters to coutinue with."he said and than hung up. Immediately, he head out to his motorcycle and headed towards costin's territory. Ember! They have her. They have Lauren. Costin![/sub]

Ember's sprung away from Kayrin's warm embrace and she roared in fury."No. No. No. She's my bestfriend."she cried and than leapt into the sky. Her mind reaching out for Jai's,Please. Help me. she all but screamed into their connection.

"Interesting," Costin mused, clicking the phone shut. Lauren's breath caught in her throat. Nothing had ever hurt her as bad as Ren's words did. There was a connection between the two - she could feel it - but her left her to the devil. Hope abandoned her, and she allowed herself to give into despair. Costin watched as Lauren's expression twisted with despair and as she curled up into a ball,withdrawing into her own mind as an attempt alleviate the pain.

Shit, Jai responded,leaping to his feet. Without a word he nodded to his fellow guard and was gone, heading for Costin.

Ren soon lost interest in his bike. It wasn't going as fast as he would've liked. He parked it in the forest and than took to the skies in a falcon form. Where are you Ember? He yelled. His beast was going crazy. Protect her. It said. He let out a screech. Him and his beast knew one thing. They were out for blood.

Lauren struggled to drag herself out of her despair, struggled to reach out to the mate she knew existed. She begged for help, begged for the will to live, but it was failing.

Ren circled above Costin territory,"C'mon. Where are you, my luna?"he snarled as he landed gently on his heels. He rocked for a moment and than began to stalk through the woods. Finally, he picked up Lauren's scent and headed in that direction. Her scent was faint, but it was there. His beast growled as he changed into a sabertooth tiger and headed through the woods towards the origin of the scent.

Ember wasn't far behind. Lauren was her best friend. There was no way in hell she was gonna let something bad happen to her. Please. Jai, hurry. I can't lose her. I can't. she cried out.

Ren stopped, There. his beast growled. He snarled as he stalked toward,Luna? Can you hear me? Luna? Lauren?

I'm trying, Ember. We won't lose her, I promise. Jai zipped along through the skies, alternating between horizontal flight and spiral up before diving to gain speed. Almost there. I need you to do something for me though, Ember. I want you to fly up and scout around where she's being held, okay?

Lauren went still. There was a soft voice, calling to her in her subconscious; she heard it at the edge of her mind. 'Luna? Can you hear me? Luna? Lauren?' it said, in a familiar voice. When Lauren recognized it, tears fell from closed stormy eyes. It was Ren; Ren was her mate. Why was the Great Spirit so cruel to her? Yes.

Ember sent him the mental equivalent of a nod. She leapt into the sky and phased into a beautiful bald eagle. Her wings worked through the breeze fighting to stay in the air as she circled above. She watched in facisnationn as a huge solid black sabertooth tiger stalked slowly to the door before it reared back on it's hind legs and shifted into a grizzly. It didn't roar as it slammed it's huge paws into the wood door. The door only took one hit and it was down, before the grizzly's paws hit the ground it yet again phased into the sabertooth tiger. It stalked in roaring. Ember watched as it disappeared in the house and away from her sight. The black of the sabertooth's coat made her briefly thank of Kayrin and hurt flashed through their bond for a moment, before she put a wall up against him. Jai was here trying to help her and yet her mate was no where to be scene. She let out a screeh as she flapped her wings faster. She needed to focus on her best friend and nothing else.

Ren roared as he began to run full force at Costin. The house hadn't been hard to find. It was Costin after all. He had more confidence than anyone Ren had met.

Kayrin had followed Ember, seeing the desperation written across his face. When hurt flashed through their bond, his mind clicked into warrior mode and he descended from the sky, spiraling down towards his mate. "I can help," he cried to the eagle.

Costin smiled, sweeping to the side as Ren charged him. "You missed," he taunted, waiting for the tiger's next move. His hands were clasped behind his back, a knowing smirk etched across his expression, eyes glittering with evil. "Is she even in this house? I have many secret places, you know." His tone was taunting, meant to drive the prince insane.

Ren roared out in frustration as he crouched, glaring at Costin. He snapped his jaws once and than phased into his human form."Don't fuck with me, Costin.. Where is she?"he snarled.

Ember glanced back at him for a second before she coutinued on her flight path.

"I doubt you could force the answer out of me," Costin chuckled. Ren's temper highly amused him. "What is she to you? You told me I could do whatever I wanted to her. Why has that changed now, little cat?"

Kayrin closed in on his mate, wings gleaming in the sunlight. "I'm going to help your brother," he told the eagle, wings going slack as he zipped towards the earth. At the last minute, he unfurled them, slowing his descent, and slammed into the earth. He looked very much like the avenging angel he was as he strode into the house, stepping over the remains of the door Ren had smashed down.

Lauren bared her teeth at the red-eyed Strigoi that guarded her, a growl building in her throat. "My mate will kill all of you," she told him, but he laughed, stepping closer.
"Is that so, little slave? I'd like to see him try. But for now, it's time to break you."
"Fuck that." Lauren spat at the vampire, and he simply smiled before slamming his foot down on her leg. A sickening crack echoed and Lauren released a cry of pain at the injured limb. "Yousonofabitch!" she gasped in a rush. The Strigoi jerked her to her foot by her hair and cupped her bruised chin. She tried to bite him, but the slap that followed had her seeing spots. The vampire curled his lip over gleaming fangs and dread settled in Lauren's belly. "Don't you da-" The vampire struck, sinking unnaturally long incisors into Lauren's throat. He missed the vein on purpose and withdrew his teeth, striking again to cause pain. He repeated this a few more times before his teeth struck true, and blood flowed. The Strigoi groaned, pinning Lauren against the wall. Weakly, she tried to push back, but he was drinking her life's blood in deep gulps, claws tearing at her bloodied clothes. When Lauren realized what he was planning, she struggled even harder.

Ren went berserk, a furious ripped free of his chest and he leapt at the Strigoi. His hands forming into claws and his teeth lengthing and becoming sharp. His eyes were blue tiger eyes and before he knew what happened. He was completely gone. His beast was free and it wanted blood. He snapped his huge jaws around Costion throat and used the wall for leverage to fling him across the room. He roared as soon as he let Costin go and dropped into a defensive crouch.

Costin laughed, blood dripping down his chest, soaking and staining the white shirt he wore. "Now we're having fun." In one smooth movement, he curled his hand into a fist and slammed it into Ren's nose, sending him flying. "There's the fabled beast I've heard about, the one Ren threatens people with! Why is it rearing its head now, Prince? Is it because you're afraid for your mate? You can feel what she's going through, can't you?" Costin grinned, fangs gleaming in the fluorescent lighting.

Tears stained Lauren's blood-stained cheeks, curling into a fetal position, pressing her hands against her mangled throat that the Strigoi had more or less torn out. Whatever remained of her self-worth and pride was destroyed by the Strigoi's treatment of her. The vampire had left after torturing her, degrading her place as a woman, leaving her in the cold dark room Costin had thrown her in. She didn't know where she was, didn't know what to do.

A wave of raw fury slammed into her, pressing against her skull, building the pressure in her head. After a moment, Lauren knew what it was. Shit, Ren's beast had gone berserk. His pain and sorrow and fear slammed against her repeatedly, enraging her own inner animal. The creature that Lauren harbored battered against the mental cage she was in, struggling to get to her mate, needing to offer comfort. Lauren shoved back, regaining control. She wasn't worthy to be anyone's mate; she couldn't even defend herself.
