The wolf released another low, rumbling growl. There was a flash of human-like intelligence in his golden eyes as he prowled forward, nose twitching slightly as he took in Bree's scent. There was something familiar about her scent, but one that Fane had difficulty placing. His ears plastered against his skull and he knew she'd try to make for the tree; it was what he would do in her situation. Fane watched her as he attempted to decide whether or not to shift or call for his leader, Doru.

And then Bree took her chance. She whipped around, exposing her back that she wasn't guarding and quickly started scrambling up, grabbing a limb with one arm and pulled herself up with a grunt of effort. She was up the tree in no time, only taking her a matter of 5 seconds to reach halfway. She clung to the branch for dear life, pressing her chin into the rough bark. Her eyes clung to Fanes and she started to tremble in fear and anticipation. Who knew how long she would have to stay here.

Wordless, Fane watched, reaching out through the pack connection to call his leader. The massive wolf then sat back on his haunches, tilted his head much like a dog, and kept his gaze wholly focused on Bree, unblinking and unmoving. Doru would be there soon, and he would address the female's worth or threat and react accordingly. Fane was a mere guard; he held no ability to judge or deal out life and death.

Bree slowly started to sit up as Fane sat there still as a statue and stared at her unhlinkingly. She frowned at this, giving the wolf the best scowl she could muster. She thought he would try and get to her by now. But maybe the rest of his packwas nearby and he was waiting for them to catch up. This made her even more scared and she quickly glanced around, gaze trying to probe through the underbrush. With a nervous cough, she tried climbing higher, wanting to get away from the ground as far as she could. This was a terrifying experience and she wasn't coming back for a while. If she even made it past this day.

A soft rustling sound came from the right of Fane, and Doru, Alpha of the Priciolici, strode from the brush. The wolf finally turned his gaze from Bree, dipping his head to the newcomer. Doru's glittering brown eyes, reflecting the wisdom and pain and experiences of two-thousand years, settled on Bree. He watched her for a moment, before he spoke to Fane. No words that could be heard were exchanged but the wolf stood, loping into the brush. With that, the Wolf King and the half-breed were left alone, staring at each other.

"Alright."Ember said as she her form shifted into that of a white dove. She didn't say anything before she zipped off, heading for the summit.

Bree shrunk away from the pure-blood, clinging tightly onto the branch with her long limbs. Her blue eyes were wide with fear, wonder, and curiosity. It was weird that the two wolves seemed to understand each other without barely even moving. She nervously licked her pink lips, before she tested out her voice by tentatively calling. "Hello?" She was curious to see how he reacted to her voice and she unconsciously leaned in.

[no subs! it's hard to read]
"He wants to meet at the manor, first!" Jai cried as Ember took off, leaping forward to shift into a massive eagle. He spiraled up, banking in the direction of his king's home.
"English, then," Doru said softly, "and one who lives nearby, I would say. Tell me - why are you on private property?" His voice remained soft, though a powerful undercurrent rang in each word. He could sense that Bree was half-wolf, but said nothing. He was curious to know if she was aware of it or not. He stared at her, power and wisdom clinging to him like an aura.

Ember sighed as she banked, her small wings carrying her steadily, but not quickly. She shifted into a small eagle, it's wings just barely matured, she was still a fledgling. Her larger wingspan carried her swifter on the wind and it only took her a few minutes before she was home, shifting into herself on the front porch. She slowly made her way inside.

Bree knew more or less about the wolves, from her father. She didn't know too much, and she surely didn't know that she was part wolf. Maybe in time she would have her suspicions, but not yet. Her mouth dropped open as she stared at him. She was in so much shock she nearly lost the grip on the tree and fell off. Luckily she caught herself in time and clinged even tighter. "I-I didn't know! I...I was only...umn..... exploring...I wasn't doing any harm!" She couldn't believe she was explaining something to a wolf! "Why am I even explaining this to a WOLF?!" a moments pause before she suddenly asked. "Are you one of those wolf people my father talked about?" her blue eyes narrowed as she impatiently awaited his answer.

"Because you're on my land," Doru said calmly. "And yes, I am." He watched her for a moment. "And so are you." His expression was bored, though he was eagerly waiting Bree's reaction. She apparently didn't know she was a wolf; he could scent the being in her, though it was faint. She was a half-breed, then.

Bree blinked, her face suddenly turning to a very wary, unamused look. "Yeah okay." She scoffed, folding her hands against her chest. "I seriously doubt it. There isn't any proof." She huffed, scanning him over curiously. She still didn't understand or believe that she was really talking to a wolf. "Your just trying to catch me off guard to eat me or something." Another pause before she asked yet another question. "Can you prove it?"

Jai had managed to arrive before Ember and was waiting patiently with Unole in the king's quarters. The Schimba King was currently pouring over his desk, shuffling papers and the like across the smooth, polished wooden surface. The head of the guard leaned casually against the wall, arms crossed, leaf-green eyes dark. He seemed lazily at ease, but Jai was always alert, always ready to defend those he'd sworn to protect. The fact that the annual summit was in Costin's territory this time but the warrior on edge; his past, it seemed, had never stopped haunting him.
"No," Doru said, "but since I am the first of all the wolves, it stands to reason I know a member of my kind when I find them."
