There is magick here, of the oldest kind
ωᴇʟᴄᴏᴍᴇ, ᴄʜɪʟᴅ, ᴛᴏ ᴛʜᴇ ʜᴏᴜsᴇ ᴏғ ɴɪɢʜᴛ.
"[Your name here]! Night has chosen thee; thy death is thy rebirth. Night calls to thee; hearken to Her sweet voice. Your destiny awaits you at the House of Night!" The person you recognized as a tracker not a minute before lifts his right hand, pointing at the center of your forehead. Pain explodes behind your eyes, sending your vision haywire with red and black spots. When the splotches clear, you find yourself on the floor, back against the lockers of your school's main hallway, the horrified faces of your fellow students staring down at you, fear clear in their eyes. They've given you a wide berth, as though you might jump forward and bite someone. It takes your mind a second to realize what's happened: you've been Marked to become a vampyre. One of two things will happen: you will complete the Change over a course of three to four years and become a vampyre, or you will die. Period. A permanent death. Forever. There is no other option, though you've heard rumors of a new kind of vampyre - a Red vampyre, one with fangs and an aversion to sunlight. Fear grips your heart, ensnaring your breath as your mind finally accepts what has happened. You have no other choice now. You will go to the House of Night, or die.
The sunlight streaming through the car's tinted windows sting your eyes, forcing you to narrow them in an attempt to relieve the discomfort. Your parents nervously babble, attempting to convince themselves that this whole thing is a dream in vain. You know it's not; your entire body aches as though you have the flu and you can't stop coughing. The illness tells you that you need to go to the House of Night, that you will die if you don't. That this whole thing isn't a joke. Finally, after what seems to be the longest car ride of your life, your parent eases on the brake and the car slows. Before you, massive, wrought iron gates swing open, allowing your car entry. You drive around a circle until your parents stop in front of massive, ancient oak doors. Barely a second passes before the doors swing open smoothly, and out steps a vampyre.
You know it's a vampyre because of the beauty; the vampyre's skin retains a coppery tint, though is mainly a soft, pale coloring accented with a lovely tan, as though she was Native American. Her hair is the color of a raven's wing, falling down past her shoulders, curling at her mid back. Her eyes, which seem to focus on you, are a brilliant chocolate brown, the pupil rimmed by a carmel color. Your gaze is drawn to the tattoo stamped on her forehead - a intricate mix of swirls and stars. It's beautiful. She moves with a certain grace, power seeming to radiate off of her in waves. It's clear she's someone important. The vampyre stops a few feet away, waiting as you and your parents step out of your vehicle. A beaming smile is etched on her lovely face as she turns to you. "Welcome, child of Nyx, to the House of Night."
