Sorry, my lady. I'm on orders from the king. Jai stretched out his legs, gaining speed rapidly. Without warning, he sprang forward with a bellowing roar, lips curled back over gleaming fangs. He leaped at Sabine, jaws slacking open, a snarl tearing itself through his maw. He knew that Ember could handle her own but Jai, as her guard and protector, would aid her in battle and fight by her side with everything he had.

Ember snarled her outrage as she paced back and forth. Her tail flicked in irration as she walked her guardian take on the Strigoi. A smirk broke across Embers face as she waited until Jai's back was turn toward her. Without a word, she slid into back into the shadows of the forest. This time in her field mouse form.

Sabine hissed as she got back to her feet. She knew she was outmatched,"Till next time, princess."she snarled and than turned and fled from the scene.

Dammit, Jai swore. He sighed, shifting into a house cat before he leaped into a nearby tree. I'll be nearby, Jai told Ember, so call if you need me. With that, he left her alone and settled down on his branch for a light cat nap.

Ember sighed,What will it take for you to leave me alone? The princes smirked as she got an idea. Her form changed into a hawk. She circled silently around and than she dove and grabbed the house cat that was Jai. Once they were high above the treetops she dropped him:

Dammit! I am leaving you alone! Jai cried as he was jerked into the air, dragged high into the air. The instant he was released, he shifted into a peregrine falcon. He flung his wings out, leaf-green eyes glaring at Ember with fury and disbelief.

Ember let out a shriek as she opened her claws and dove towards Jai. She wanted a fight. She craved it. She was tired of always following the rules. She shrieked as she went for Jai's left wing. Lies. All lies. I'm never alone.

Okay, so what's happening at the moment?

Jai rolled to the right, managing to dodge Ember's attack. Enough! You are acting like a child, Ember! I told you that I would be nearby, not watching you! To call if you need me! I am not hounding your every step! If you had told your father before now that you wanted to be alone, this would not have happened! Jai's eyes flashed, anger burning in the leaf-green depths.

Ember's cry of outraged rang through the whole forest. She was not mad at Jai, instead she was mad at herserlf, because she knew he was right. She let out another shriek and bowed her head. She felt like a child being scowled, but she knew she deserved it. She was acting like one. Her pride, however, would not let her admit she was wrong. My father does know I tire of being watched every moment of my life, but yet I am stilled assigned guards and given a guardian. I tire of never having freedom. But I'm sorry for taking it on you... So forgive me. But we both know if this was an actual fight I would've won. Ember tried to break the tension, before she headed back toward the ground.

Jai tucked his wings, spiraling low to the ground. His talons wrapped around a branch of the tree he had occupied before being attacked by Ember, wings curling around his body once more. His piercing leaf-green eyes watched Ember without a word for a long moment, before he finally spoke. You are the heir to the Schimba throne. If you are killed, then your brother automatically is next in line, and we both know that could spell the end for our people. We are a dying breed, Ember; the blood of the Schimba is all but spent. Unole has held his tribe together for a long time, and continues to do so, and will do so for some time more. But you - you will take the throne, and you will be tasked with keeping the Schimba-kind alive. So few are born each year, and the Strigoi take out more and more each month. The bird turned his head away for a moment, as if gathering himself. We need a strong leader, Ember, and your brother is not destined to be that leader. You are. You are more vital to the future than even you know.

Ember landed softly on the cool forest floor and shifted into her normal form,"You're right."she said simply and than she turned and headed for home. She didn't really know what to do besides go home and lay down. There really wasn't anything that needed her attention, but she wasn't ready to be bored out of her mind.

Without a word, Jai spread his wings and took to the skies, keeping close to Ember as she made her way home. He was silent, thoughts turned inward as he contemplated many things. Unole reached out to his best warrior, inquiring as to the whereabouts of his daughter. Jai responded and fell silent once more. Unole told the guard that he was free when Alistair reached them; the guard was headed there now. A red-tailed hawk swooped low to the earth, skimming past Jai. Its feather brushed along the peregrine falcon's wings and Jai knew that it was Alistair. Without another word, he banked and headed for his home on the quiet mountainside.

Ember looked to the sky as she reached out with her mind to touch Jai's briefly, I am sorry. A defeated sigh left the young princess's lips as she dropped her gaze and continued on her trek towards home. There wasn't much more she could do. She had acted like a spoiled brat and she regretted every moment of it. The small sound of a stick breaking drew the young princess out of her daze and put her on alert. Her teeth already lengthening into that of a sabertooth tiger's. She growled, her eyes turning into a cat's as the growl rumbled through the forest,"Who's there?"she called out, her eyes darting every which way. The princess didn't want to fully change if it was a human. That would create so many problems and she didn't want to add human exposure to her father's ever growing list of problems. Her posture relaxed though as soon as her cat eyes caught movement in the trees. Too fast to be human. Ember's face broke into a grin as she finally spotted the source of the movement. It was a girl with light pink, light blue, and light purple hair. She had brown eyes and was very petite. The girl looked as if she was no older than nineteen, but really she was hundreds of years old. "Lyric." was the only thing word mumbled from Ember's lips before she got tackled to the ground. Her laughter rang through the whole forest. "Okay. Okay. Strigoi! I missed you too."the princess laughed as she looked to the sky once more. "Alistar! Go home. Tell my father I'm with Lyric. I can handle myself! Or if my father doesn't trust me. Tell Jai to come back."she called and than she turned to her friend."Tell me everything."she ordered.
