The Sun's daily rising began, it's warm rays casting a comforting and welcoming glow on the place that was known as Cross Thoroughbred Racing Facility. It seemed that Cross was in favor of the mighty sun for the it the beginning of a nice day with a cool breeze. The smell of fresh cut hay and horses wafted around Cross, a welcomed smell by some. Not much movement could be caught in bunkhouse where many jockeys still lay fast asleep or out in the stables were horses were dozing lightly in their stalls. However, movement could be detected out in one the many pastures. Two figures were galloping through the pasture tearing up the grass with their mighty hooves. Another figure could also be seen. It sat on the wooden fence and was watching the horses as they raced each other. That figure happened to be a girl. A girl that went by the name of Hope Summers. She had long brown ringlets for hair that were currently pulled back in bun and slightly covered with a blue and red cardinals hat. Her large icy blue eyes shone in the Sun's warm light. Along with her blue eyes and brown hair, she had delicate facial features, such as a cute button nose, high cheek bones, and a heart shaped face. Her body was also rather...delicate. The girl was very petite and she stood at short height of 4'9. She had a few curves here and there but not much and even though she was so short the girl was completely made of muscle due to years of healthy eating and working out on a daily basis. On that muscular body of her's she wore gray riding breeches, black riding boots, a thick black belt, a baseball style tee that had the cardinals symbol on it, and light north face jacket to the cold away. Hope smiled ever so softly as she watched her baby, PaintITred, also known as Riot, race with one of her good friend's colt, Havoc. They were both amazing prospects for the Breeder's Cup and the Triple Crown. With a happy sigh the young jockey blew a kiss to her colt and than headed for the barn. She needed to check on Lyric, who was know very much pregnant. A few stray thoughts found their way into Hope's head and immediately she began to tear up. She wished her cousin, well actually twin sister unbeknownst to her, Ever could be there to watch as her prized mare gave birth to it's first foal. Ever and Hope had been close before Ever had died in a race that would make history. The last race of the Italian Triple Crown. Ever had rode her mare, Lyric, to victory, before she died from falling off her back just as they passed the finish line. The two girls had known each other from their early childhood and grew up practically sisters even though they lived in different homes. Both were indeed sisters. Twins in fact, but had been separated at birth and neither had known. Ever's death was still a sore subject with her. She only ever cofinded in her good friend, Aiden and her cousin(sister) Dez. Hope sighed as she shook her head clear from the depressing thoughts and she slowly took in her surroundings,"It's a beautiful day."she mused out loud. Lazy ness at it's finest!

Fay was spending some time near the Broodmare pasture, eyes on the gorgeous, fat mares. Some of them had already dropped their foals, and others, had yet to do so. When a little chestnut colt with gray goggles approached - a sign that he would also gray out - Fay stifled the squeal of excitement. How she wanted to reach out and touch that little fuzzy nose, but she resisted. The colt was rather spooky and bolted back several feet when Fay shifted her weight. He approached again, timidly, poking her hip with his nose through the fence before he gained some confidence. Fay, at this point, was smitten. She loved foals, but then, she loved all horses. Except Adam's palomino, Gal. What a menace he was.
Aiden entered the Fillies and Mare barn, pausing to take in the various heads that poked out. Most of the mares that weren't racing any longer were in the Broodmare and Youngstock barn, since they would likely be mothers at this point. He stopped to peer in at a yearling filly. He'd just gotten back the news from the Jockey Club that her name was accepted with them. "It's official, little shark. One day, the world'll contend with Lorenzini." Aiden, a devout fan of Shark Week on Discovery Channel had named the filly after the electro-receptors in a shark's nose. He usually called the filly Lori-Shark or either Shark or Lori for short. The little chestnut filly was pretty undersized, having been rejected by her dam. She'd been pretty sickly from the start, so Aiden and a few grooms had bottle-raised her. She, as a result, was tiny but extremely loving with humans.
Adam entered the Colts and Stallions wing, yawning. He hadn't slept much the night before, hadn't really slept much for weeks. He paused to rub Celestial Zephyr's ears, kissed him on the nose, and proceeded to the stall beside his. My Guy Red flicked his ears, stirring from his slumber to nudge Adam. "C'mon, Red. It's time to get ready. Gotta let you stretch your legs a little and then we'll get you ready for the road." Adam and Red were going to be going to Churchill Downs to race. There'd be a big crowd since it was the day of the Kentucky Derby, though of course Red wasn't running in it. He was too old at this point. He was participating in the Churchill Downs Stakes and Adam was determined to show the world that his stallion was still capable of doing great things. Everyone seemed to have forgotten about the big red horse who was cast aside in favor of Celestial Zephyr.
