Sadie followed behind Adam, eyes downcast as Charlie glanced about. Her eyebrows were furrowed, and she didn't say anything. Her stomach was rolling and her heart was pounding away in her throat. Her hands were a little shaky and she sighed as they came into the barn. Sadie stopped outside of PV's stall, just far enough away so that Charlie could reach the splash colt. The female jockey kept her eyes on her daughter as Charlie held out a carrot she had been holding. The toddler crooned to the colt, her hand out flat as her daddy had showed her.

Paranormal Vortex poked his pink nose into Charlie's hand, nosing at the carrot before he politely lipped at it. He was exceedingly careful in taking the carrot out of the girl's hand before pulling back to crunch on it. He dropped tiny bits of carrot as he chewed, head dropping to pursue them before he was back up, nickering and poking around for more. "Greedy guts," Adam muttered, rubbing the bay's white-splashed ear. The white only reached the base of his ear. He turned his head like a dog, leaning into the rub, eyes fluttering.

Sadie shifted her weight to the other foot, and Charlie giggled when PV's lips tickled her hand. She gazed adoringly at 'her' horse before glancing at her father, eyebrows furrowing in confusion. "What's a gut?" She asked curiously, reaching out for Adam to hold her instead of Sadie. The little girl was entering that phase where she was asking a lot of questions. Sadie's lips twitched at an almost smile at that before she glanced down the way to LuLu's stall. She still needed to exercise the filly.

"Gut's your belly." Adam responded, reaching a hand out to poke Charlie's pudgy belly before turning and leaning into PV's stall to pat his broad barrel. "He's got a big belly, huh?" He teased, scratching a little bit. PV arched his neck and shifted closer, enjoying the love. Next to him, Tremolo let out a huff of impatience, wanting his own treat. Adam wasn't going to let Charlie give him any carrots, because he was less careful about his teeth. He was also rather possessive when it came to food, so he was more apt to nip anyway, since there was food involved.

Charlie giggled at that, and then reached a hand to poke Sadie in the side. The young mother jumped at that and frowned at her daughter. "Don't tickle people, Charlie." Sadie half-scolded, half-teased as she scratched PV's nose, smiling at the colt she had helped raise. "Daddy, you're guts are showing." Charlie said seriously as Sadie handed their daughter off. She had been reaching for him for a minute, and Sadie had finally relented.

Adam frowned at Charlie now, turning to look at her in confusion. His shirt covered his stomach. He made sure he always wore long shirts. They were more comfortable and he could tuck them in around horses that liked to nibble on clothing. He hated short clothing, hated exposing skin unnecessarily. "What're you talking about, Charles?" He asked as he boosted her up onto his hip. He momentarily paled before regaining composure. She was getting heavier. He could handle her, but lately, he just lacked his usual strength and energy.

Charlie gazed up at him, a grin plastered on her face. "I made you look." She giggled, poking him in the cheek and then reaching back out to stroke PV. Sadie just stood there, rather awkwardly. Her heart felt like it was going to break out of her chest, and she felt a little light-headed and dizzy from being so close to her ex-husband. It made her physically nervous, mainly because she felt so guilty about all that had happened. She wrung her hands for a few seconds before she glanced down the aisle again.

[Sorry, slow. I'm drawing in my notebook. Feels good to draw. C:]
Adam continued to frown, absently tugging at the bottom of his t-shirt. He gave PV another rub on the neck before grabbing the bag of carrots again, and moving on to Celestial Zephyr's stall. The stallion blinked sleepily at him before closing his eyes again. At the rustle, he peeped an eye open again, before ultimately deciding it wasn't worth his time. A nap sounded so much better than treats. Adam shrugged and glanced toward My Guy Red. The chestnut watched him and Charlie, but he was also quite a bite more fascinated with Sadie. "What's LuLu's career like?"

[ i need to go to bed soooon.]
Charlie was suddenly tired, her head resting against Adam's shoulder and she yawned, one hand full of Adam's t-shirt fabric. Sadie's gaze landed on My Guy Red as she offered a hand to the chestnut stallion. She didn't respond for a minute before she looked back at Adam. "Uh. Pretty good. She's had a decent career. I have a race with her this next week and then I need to decide if I want to retire her." Sadie explained quietly, blue gaze flicking back to the fiery cherry bay. She was almost 4, and Sadie thought it was time to pasture the mare.

[Isn't it like 9 where you are? Or are you only two hours behind me?]
"Huh," Adam responded quietly. He personally liked to see longer careers. Red was already seven and still racing, though he would probably be retired at the end of the year if he remained sound and willing to run. Adam didn't care about the money behind it. He just believed the horse could do great things and he wanted to prove that with the big stallion. He'd proven himself to be a great racer outside of being Zeph's rival.

[it's 10. I sleep like, too much...]
Sadie nodded slowly and looked blankly at My Guy Red, Adam, and Charlie. "Yeah, " she finally responded. There was bags under her eyes, and she was exhausted. Like Adam, she was having problems sleeping. The jockey was running on fumes, but she still had a lot to work to do. She couldn't decide if she wanted to go back inside and sleep, or go exercsise LuLu.
