Adam set the glass back down and took up his previous position in his chair, leaning back. "I'm sure it does. You'll be out of racing for a while though." Adam sighed heavily. "Maybe in a day or two, you can get transferred closer to Cross. Charlie misses you. No doubt she'll wanna see you now that you're awake." Adam was just making conversation, unsure if Sadie was even listening anymore.

[sorry, fell asleep]
Sadie listened mostly, her eyes closed before they opened up in confusion. The last thing she definitely remembered was LuLu coming home after being stolen. Everything after that was a blur of cofused images and random snippets of memories she couldn't put a name too. She turned her head, and struggled to try and sit up, but ultimately failed. She was awkwardly propped up on an elbow, her heart monitor spiking. She stared at him, a question on her face.

"What?" Adam could read Sadie's face well enough to recognize her confusion, but he didn't know what was on her mind. Perhaps she was asking how LuLu was? "I've got a picture of LuLu if you want to see that she's definitely fine. Aw, you probably don't even really remember what happened..." He rubbed at his forehead. "LuLu broke down just before the wire." He explained quietly. "She rolled over you. Pretty much the same thing that happened when Gal rolled over me." He explained quietly. "She's alive and well, back at Cross. Broken foreleg but that's casted and aside from a wicked temper, she's surviving. I swear, she's more like a daughter of Gal than Zeph."

Sadie's eyebrows knitted and she eased back down against the pillows. She closed her eyes in frustration before shaking her head. She found it rather hard to word what she was feeling. "What... What day is it?" She finally asked, glancing back at him. Adam seem so different. He was kind of distant, and cordial. Which didn't make any sense. She stared intently at him, what he was saying didn't really register with her.

Adam frowned slightly. "Uh...Thursday?" He said slowly and then elaborated. "It's July 2nd." He clarified, bewildered. He understood that she might be groggy but her confusion didn't seem to be just because she'd been out for a few days. He rubbed at his forehead, slouching in his seat for a moment. This was just fantastic. Part of him really didn't want to be in the hospital room with Sadie, but the part of him that still loved her, wanted her, was making him stay, and he hated it.

Sadie studied him for a moment. The date really didn't mean anything to her, and she cleared her throat. "Year!" She managed to croak out, looking just as bewildered as Adam. She was so confused and needed confirmation that she wasn't crazy. She studied his face intently, realizing that something was up with him. She could practically see tension roving off of him and she added. "What's wrong?"

"It's 2014, Sadie." Adam said slowly, bewildered. He was just about ready to call a nurse in to report the apparent memory loss, but he didn't move just yet in case Sadie was thinking she'd been out for longer than she had been. He rubbed at his forehead again, ignoring Sadie's question about what was bothering him. What was bothering him was of no concern to her. She needed to focus on getting better so that she could return home and see everyone and rest up. Wordlessly, Adam offered Sadie his phone, so she could see LuLu in her stall. The picture wasn't that great, but it showed her standing, leg casted. It was a recent picture, taken just days ago.

Sadie's eyes were wide and she swallowed hard, her expression one of utter confusion. She took the phone wordlessly, eyes glancing over the photo before handing it back, handing the phone back. Her face pained for a moment, studying the ceiling tile. The last thing she definitely remembered was LuLu being returned home after being stolen. She had just been a goal then. The filly in the photo was frustratingly familiar, she just didn't remeber her. Sadie turned her head back to Adam, lips in a thin line. "How old is LuLu now?" She finally asked, eyebrows raises.

[Why do you keep 'following' me on here? I keep getting notifications.]
"Four." Adam responded shortly, standing up. He sighed sharply. "I'll be right back." He muttered before slipping out of the hospital room. He wanted a nurse to check Sadie and figure out why she had this apparent memory gap. He paused and slipped back into the hotel room. "What year did you think it was...?" He asked slowly.

Sadie shifted slightly, wincing as pain flares through her spine. She looked up when Adam entered back into the room. "I... I... Don't know." She said quietly, brow furrowed. "Maybe 2011." She said, completely bewildered. She was so confused. "It's like, after LuLu came back from being stolen, it's just a big jumbled blur." She said quietly. She looked pained as she explained this, eyes flickering doubtfully.
[no, I haven't... ??]

[ I keep getting notifications saying 'Horse has started following you' or something like that.]
"Well, this is just fantastic," Adam leaned back against the wall before sliding along it and back out the door again. He returned two minutes later with a nurse. "Talk to her. See how far this extends back." He urged the nurse. It was rather obvious he wasn't happy about the memory loss. If she thought that it was 2011, this went back too far. She probably thought they were still dating and what about Charlie?
[Charlie wasn't even born yet, right? Like, they were just dating, not even engaged or married?]

[that's really weird. Maybe it's a glitch or something?]
The nurse checked Sadie's charts, her brown eyes kind as hee gaze flicked to Sadie and then Adam again. "She didn't sustain any head trauma, so this is an oddity." She murmured to Adam before back to Sadie. "Hey, sweetheart. Can you tell me the last thing you remeber?" Sadie struggled for words, her eyes crinkling at the edges and her hand tightened into a fist. "My filly was... Was returned. And he was in California." She nodded to Adam, before averting her gaze. He seemed so different. He wasn't the Adam she remeberee. The nurse turned back to him. "How long ago was this?"
[yeah]

Adam frowned. "Well, she told me that she thought it was 2011, so three years ago." Adam said rather flatly, meeting the nurse's gaze awkwardly. He just wanted to go home and sleep for a week, abruptly exhausted, but he couldn't. He had Charlie and the horses to care for. And now, he had to deal with Sadie's rather odd memory loss.
[So, tell me, what's up with the memory loss?]

The nurse pursed her lips, studying Sadie who had apparently fallen asleep. The jockey's eyes were closed and her breathing rather peaceful. "We'll take her into an MRI when she wakes back up." The nurse says quietly, glancing back to Adam. "Sometimes after something traumatic happens, someone might have a memory gao." She shrugged, and then disappeared to go tell Sadie's doctor. Sadie's eyes flickered open, eyes furrowed. She gave Adam a look that was pretty much asking him for what happened the past few years. [it's a secret ]

Adam watched the nurse leave before walking over to the window. He leaned against the wall, peering through the window. Lines of tension ran through his small, scrawny frame and his jaw was clenched, face expressionless yet somehow tight at the same time. He assumed that Sadie was sleeping, for it'd certainly appeared that way. He didn't want to think about all the time that Sadie had lost. He really didn't want to have to answer her and fill her in on what she'd missed if she asked. He really didn't want to explain how they had married, had a child, divorced, and the dramas of the refusal to let him see his own child for several months. He didn't want to have to describe all this. She'd remember eventually, he was certain.
